
Kaylan is a social impact strategist who designs plug-and-play fundraising plans that drive sustainable growth. She has led campaigns with organizations such as the Housing Authority of Baltimore City, Maryland Reentry Resource Center, the National Association of Black Journalists, and DC Public Libraries, as well as leading philanthropies like Walton Family Foundation, New Profit, and Borealis Philanthropy, where she supports grantees in maximizing their impact.
With a career spanning over $100 million in funds raised, Kaylan specializes in equipping grassroots nonprofits with effective fundraising strategies and helping philanthropies connect with high-impact initiatives tackling systemic challenges. At the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), she played a pivotal role in increasing the annual budget from $12 million to $20 million in just 18 months by refining the organization’s value proposition and aligning it with funder priorities.
Kaylan’s expertise includes developing donor personas, conducting prospect analyses, and delivering customized staff training to create actionable frameworks that amplify impact and ensure long-term success. Her deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape allows her to identify key funding opportunities and craft messaging that resonates with funders.
She holds degrees and executive education credentials from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, and Howard University’s School of Business, along with an Executive Certification in Diversity Coaching from the Coach Diversity Institute. A Goldman Sachs Baltimore 10K Small Business alumna, founding member of The Gathering Spot DC, and evaluator for the Black Ambition Prize Competition, Kaylan brings a unique blend of academic insight and hands-on experience to every initiative she supports.
